  10.          Aladdin is an automated access tool for GEnie users. Above
  11.          everything else, Aladdin is designed to help you get the most
  12.          use from GEnie for your hard-earned money. It will retrieve
  13.          and send message for you from GEmail and the RoundTables, and
  14.          will also download/upload files into the RoundTable software
  15.          libraries. Additionally, it provides you with tools like
  16.          Terminal Mode and the Script languages, each with its own
  17.          features to make life as a GEnie user much easier for you.
  18.          The Aladdin Main Screen is the door to all the features of
  19.          Aladdin. In this section we will discuss each of the main
  20.          menu items.

  26.          We have already covered the Configuration from this menu in
  27.          the manual section titled, "Setting Up Aladdin". If you have
  28.          not yet read that section and/or setup Aladdin, please go
  29.          back to that section now and follow the instructions to
  30.          configure the Aladdin software. How to Configure RoundTables
  31.          is found in this manual starting on page 34.

  35.          Clicking on Product Index pops up a window through which you
  36.          can scroll through a complete list of all GEnie pages. This
  37.          is shown as the page #, the page title, and a brief
  38.          description. Options at the bottom of the window are -

  48.          There are three (3) options available from this menu
  49.          selection. You can manually type in your own 8 character
  50.          password or allow Aladdin to automatically generate a new
  51.          password. A new password can be generated consisting of
  52.          Random Words, or Random Characters.

  54.          If you choose to have Aladdin select a new password composed
  55.          of Random Characters, you can select from 209,000,000,000,000
  56.          possible choices. You can click the mouse button while
  57.          pointing to the Random Characters Button until Aladdin

  67.          displays a password that you consider to be satisfactory,
  68.          then press <Return> or click on "Ok" with the mouse button.

  70.          Asking Aladdin to select a new password composed of two
  71.          Random Words will yield 6,800,000 different choices. As
  72.          before, you can continue to press the left mouse button while
  73.          pointing to the

  75.          Random Words button until Aladdin displays a password that
  76.          you consider to be satisfactory, then press <Return> or click
  77.          on the  "Ok" Button to tell Aladdin to change the password to
  78.          the one displayed.

  80.          Aladdin will change your password instantly by logging on to
  81.          GEnie.

  85.          One of the nicest features of Aladdin is that it keeps track
  86.          of the money you are spending on your GEnie account while you
  87.          are logged on, as long as you use Aladdin exclusively for
  88.          accessing the GEnie services. You will notice that Aladdin
  89.          keeps a dollar and cents count of your charges when you are
  90.          logged on, and displays this count on the screen while it is
  91.          accessing GEnie.

  93.          NOTE - Every time you log off GEnie, Aladdin adds the total
  94.          dollar and cents accumulation to a file which contains the
  95.          billing history for your account from the point at which you
  96.          started using Aladdin.

  98.          NOTE - the GEnie STAR*SERVICE has free areas which will be at
  99.          no charge to you from GEnie. But Aladdin will not know when
  100.          you are using these areas and will show a charge as if you
  101.          were paying to use the GEnie STAR*SERVICE.

  103.          To ensure that Aladdin keeps a correct billing history of
  104.          your account it is imperative that you ensure that Aladdin
  105.          knows the amount of money you are being charged for GEnie
  106.          usage. This billing rate figure is entered in the Aladdin
  107.          Setup Screen (see the section on Setting Up Aladdin"). Some
  108.          services on GEnie have additional surcharges, and the method
  109.          of access you are using may also carry another surcharge,
  110.          such as when you use Telenet to access GEnie. If you are not
  111.          sure what your billing rates are, contact GEnie Client
  112.          Services for information or assistance. If Aladdin does not
  113.          know what your billing rate is, or if the billing rate is
  114.          incorrect, the billing history will also be incorrect. At any
  115.          rate, it is impossible for Aladdin to predict exactly what
  116.          all the billing rates and surcharges will be, so at best the
  117.          billing history will always be a close approximation of your

  127.          actual billing charges, to be used as a general cost
  128.          guideline only.

  130.          Click on "Billing History" from the "File" menu. Now click on
  131.          the month you wish to view by clicking the appropriate
  132.          button. You may also choose to view your entire billing
  133.          history by clicking the button marked "All Months". If you do
  134.          not want to view your billing history at this time, click on
  135.          "Cancel" to close the window and return to the main Aladdin
  136.          Screen.

  138.          If you click on a single month, Aladdin will display a
  139.          detailed listing of that month's activity. If there is
  140.          activity for more than one year in the data file, Aladdin
  141.          will separate the listing for each year's selected month. If
  142.          you click on all months, Aladdin will display a summary of
  143.          the activity for each month of each year for which Aladdin
  144.          has information in its data file.

  146.          Aladdin displays the approximate billing for each month in
  147.          dollars and cents, followed by the number of calls Aladdin
  148.          made to GEnie, the total time it spent online in
  149.          HOURS:MINUTES:SECONDS format, the average duration of each
  150.          call in the same format and the average cost of each call in
  151.          dollars and cents.

  153.          If you select a particular month for viewing, Aladdin will
  154.          display a screen containing information for that month.
  155.          Aladdin may display a message stating that a "Summary of
  156.          charges follows listing", which means that if you scroll
  157.          further down you will find a summary of the month's billing
  158.          activity. If there is only a small amount of activity in the
  159.          data file for that month, Aladdin will display the summary on
  160.          the same screen and you will not see that message. If a call
  161.          was made during prime-time, a letter "P" will be placed to
  162.          the right of the cost figure to indicate that.
